Curtain Pole Guide | Curtain Pole Fitting Guide

Now that you’ve received your gorgeous curtain pole and finials from us, we’ll show you how to fit them.

We recommend the following items before you start:

  • Metal tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Stepladder (make sure you are on a stable platform)
  • Screwdriver
  • Electric drill (ideally cordless with hammer function)
  • Spirit level (horizontal and vertical type)

POSITIONING YOUR CURTAIN POLE BRACKETS

Step 1 - If you are fitting a new pole and have not yet ordered your curtains we recommend positioning the bracket 5 cm - 10 cm above the window recess, however, you may want to adjust this slightly depending on your ceiling height. The height of your pole is generally the starting point to determine what your curtain drop will be. If you haven't ordered your curtains yet and need more information on curtain drop measurements, please see our curtain measuring guide.

Step 2 - Position the bracket as shown above and check it’s level by placing your spirit level (in the vertical position) against the side of the bracket. Use your pencil to mark out the drill holes and repeat the process on the other side, if you have a long curtain pole a central bracket may be required.

FITTING YOUR CURTAIN POLE BRACKETS

Step 1 - Drill the holes you have previously marked out and make sure the correct diameter masonry bit is used, this information should be included with your curtain pole instructions.

Step 2 - Insert the correct size rawl plugs into the drilled holes and use a screwdriver to securely fix your bracket onto the wall with the screws provided, repeat this process on the other side.

FITTING YOUR CURTAIN POLE

Step 1 - Before fitting the curtain pole you’ll need to slide the required number of rings onto the pole and leave one ring on each end between the finials and brackets.

Step 2 - Place your pole onto the mounting brackets and use your tape measure to make sure that it's centred by leaving an equal amount of pole producing from each bracket.

Step 3 - Use the bracket screws provided to secure the pole in place.

Step 4 - Fit the end finials and secure them with the screws provided, remembering to leave one curtain ring between the bracket and finial.
